Whooooooeeeeeee, Blake! You did a wonderful job of putting the Printing Course together. I was going to go through everything in a couple of days, but once started I went through everything today (the day it was announced). I started printing in the darkroom around 1976 and continued until 2011 with a crossover period when I started printing digitally in 2008. Since 2011, itโs been all digital. So, tonight, I even picked up some things that I should have been checking and doing all along. One was going to the Edit>Assign Profile and checking to see that the Adobe RGB profile was checked. Two images that I looked at were not checked as Adobe RGB. When I checked Adobe RGB and looked at the file, I said โWell look at that.โ There was a real improvement in the image. The other thing was Soft Proofing. With all the background that you gave, the reasons why we should be soft proofing, and demonstrating how to do it properly, that is one other thing that is going to make a huge difference in my printingโฆand pocketbook!
This was well worth the wait and thank you for all your work that went into giving us another super course that will help us be better print makers.

A fantastic course Blake! Even though I have been printing on and off for years, this taught me so much, especially about soft proofing intricacies, adjusting colour and the actions you supplied are SO helpful.
The work you put into this in terms of testing, testing, testing,, as well as the thought and usual excellent teaching style makes this such a worthwhile course for anyone wanting to start, or improve printing.

WOW!!! SIMPLY WOW!!! Perhaps the most useful of all courses. I’ve watched it twice already and it will be saved as a FAVORITE so I can go back to reference specific lessons when needed.
I print to give to friends and family, sales (seldom but it does happen!), exhibits, competitions and I always expect, under the best of circumstances, to do AT LEAST 4 or 5 test prints. But often it’s more–many more. I tried the lessons on a couple of pretty complex images today and got both to your “95% goal” with three tests. Seems complicated in the beginning but with the checklists, it almost becomes second nature pretty quickly. Still things to learn but these lessons will save time, money (paper and ink) and frustration. This has been worth every minute of my time. Kudo and thanks.

This is an excellent course. A lot of useful information. However brightness/contrast and vibrance adjustments did not work for printer/paper combination I had (Red River Fine Art Aurora White paper and Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-300 printer). The adjustment was a little bit weak for my taste so, used curve for soft proofing and print. Other than that it is great course and I highly recommend it.

Overall I found the course to be excellent! I’ve been working on printing my photos for almost a year now and after taking in all the course lessons have, for the first time, been printing with confidence that I will get the prints to look like I believe they should, and can do so with minimum fussing around. The Actions group itself has been a god-send to me especially with the ability to make subtle changes, etc. to fit my own particular needs. Without a doubt, well worth the $$!! I do have a couple of suggestions; first, it would have been nice if, in the light section, some Kelvin values would have been included rather than just referring to ‘warmer’ and ‘cooler’ as these can be, in many instances, easier to refer to (at least for people like me). Second, the part dealing with ppi / dpi was treated in a somewhat laissez-faire manner and I believe, given that there is a great deal of confusion out there about it, a more thorough discussion would have been helpful. Many people today adhere to the notion that for maximum quality prints the ppi should be matched with dpi but it is my understanding that is a notion from 10-15 years ago when printer technology was much less developed. In fact, there days the ‘laissez-faire’ approach is, in most cases quite OK.

As a retired teacher, I can say with certainty that Blake is an excellent lesson planer and presenter. He thoroughly presents topics at a pace that are easy to understand, incorporating visuals to emphasize points with clarity. His Photoshop Printing course has a lot of content with specifics and guidelines on how to use the knowledge for getting the most out of home printing. I find his presentations engaging and very informative and look forward to more content. My first exposure to Blake was through Creative Live courses he presented. Through his f.64 Academy, it is easier to find and tap into his wealth of photography and Photoshop knowledge. I really appreciate his dedication to sharing his knowledge in his well-thought-out presentations, always with extras to help with the learning process. Well worth the modest purchase price!

Really enjoyed the course been struggling with my printing for a while now. Could not understand why my prints were never like what was on the monitor but the course certainly highlighted where I had made my mistakes. First one was using 3rd party inks on my Canon Pro 10 secondly I was pretty much always printing borderless which ruined my print head and printer.
I too calibrated my monitor with a spider but found the colours to be off . With this course I have a method to follow / try out. Just need to pluck up the courage to ask the wife if I can buy a new printer to try it out.
Thanks

I have always enjoyed and learned a lot from courses made by Blake Rudis and this one is definitely not the exception. As the name appropriately reflects it, the course is meant to give a solid foundation for those of us wanting to start printing our own images but not being sure how or where to begin. The course is well structured and is focused on the critical factors needed to succeed in printing. It reflects Blake’s thorough experimentation with each variable, giving clear explanations about why any given step is important. And most importantly, it is an honest portrayal of what Blake himself does when he goes to print. The course is not a step by step recipe for printing, but it builds a solid base upon which other decisions can be made with confidence, ie. should I use Lightroom? Should I use Photoshop? What color space should I choose? What paper should I print on? Etc. The effort made to put the course together comes across loud and clear. And like many of Blake’s other courses, it comes with plenty of downloads to help us move forward, such as reference images, PDF’s, photoshop actions, etc. The value of this course is total worth it. I highly recommend it!

Blake does an excellent job explaining the various factors contributing to creating a high-quality print in Photoshop. What sets this printing class apart is its comprehensive approach, covering everything from room lighting and monitor calibration to paper types, ICC profiles, soft proofing, and printer settings, all within Photoshop. The course is designed to help you achieve the best possible print with the equipment you already own. Additionally, Blake provides valuable extras, such as PDF checklists for proofing and printing, along with experiments he’s conducted using different papers, so you can get an idea of how your prints will look on specific paper types and which papers work best for you. This class equips you with all the tools you need to succeed in printing, and I highly recommend it for both beginners and experienced individuals.
