WOW! When he said that you should start off slow on this course because there’s a lot of things packed into it. He wasn’t lying. You will learn so much in such a short time. I am not through module one yet and have learned so much. If you are debating on getting this, stop and do it. There is no one that knows color in photography better than Blake.

  2. Neil Schaffel (verified owner)

I have just about every course Blake has offered. I have spent many years and many dollars trying to understand and use color in my photography. If Blake had released this years ago, I would have saved a lot of money and time spent on the books, videos and course offered by the other good educators. This course explains the importance of color and its use simply and concisely. I strongly recommend this course . . . and then go back to ZSE and Palette Effects. Thank you, Blake, for your time and ability.

  4. Paul G. (verified owner)

Photoshop today allows photographers to isolate sections of a photograph and work on them like never before. What is great about Blake’s course is that he provides a theoretical or conceptual framework with how colour in those isolated elements interacts and impacts the viewer. The course is a great way of gaining improved understanding of the role colour plays in a viewer’s response as well as providing a workflow and a set of tools that take advantage of the power of modern Photoshop.

  5. Robert C. (verified owner)

Itโ€™s a game changer. Well thought out, beautifully presented. The level of detail is outstanding!

  6. Michael W. (verified owner)

As usual, Blakes โ€œThe Color Courseโ€ is top of the line. His courses are always filled with lots of detail, presented in a way that is understandable, in bite size chunks. I always learn so much and the price is worth every penny.

  7. David Eckels (verified owner)

Having taken several f.64 courses, I have found color one of the most complex and difficult subjects to understand. With the Color Course, Blake has taken a quantum leap forward for photographers to integrate color dynamics and theory, how to correct, separate and grade colors, and how to use LR/ACR and Photoshop tools to address color objectives in a sound, strategic workflow. This is a graduate level course, to be sure, but Blake outdoes himself in this edition and provides not only examples, but also resources for taming the color monster and achieving my goals for my images. I am still working and learning and, frankly, probably will be until I give up my camera! If you want to understand color and how to use it in photography AND you are willing to work hard to achieve those goals, this is the course for you. F.64 Academy is well worth your investment.

  8. Sin Wah Tan (verified owner)

Very informative and instructive. Learn a lot form you.

  9. Brandon Johnson (verified owner)

I have absolutely loved this course so far. If you are debating on purchasing, do yourself a favor and do so. You won’t regret it. There is so much information in it. Blake is the man when it comes to color. I had to slow down with the course because of all the information he was providing.

  10. Bill Keane (verified owner)

What an awesome product with detailed explanations and examples!

  11. TC Conner (verified owner)

The Color Course for Photographers has really opened my eyes to the many possibilities of editing my photos with color and intent, and how doing so can create an experience for the viewer that he or she can not only see but feel!

  12. Chan Garrett (verified owner)

  13. Mary F Platter-Rieger (verified owner)

I love this course; it’s clear, concise, and very helpful. I understand the color workflow and feel much more confident about color grading.

  14. Robyn Aldridge (verified owner)

Owing to other commitments, I still haven’t finished the course yet but I couldn’t wait any longer to tell others how good this course is. Join up and brighten up your photos!

  15. Sonja B. (verified owner)

I have just finished the color course and have really enjoyed it. I have followed along with all the practice images and some of my own, and now my biggest dilemma is wanting to go back to work on some of my older images AND wanting to get stuck in to new images I just took on a 4 week trip!
For me, this course was timed perfectly. I joined f.64 elite in October last year and also purchased ZSE and PE. Since then I have not been able to stop learning. I have gone from a frustrated photographer (enjoying being out in the field, but frustrated with not being able to share my vision for my images). In the last 5 months I have watched so many courses, critiques and live events that my head was spinning (in a very good way) and I felt I should go back and watch them all again to make sure it all sunk in. Now I don’t feel like I need to go back to the other courses as the color course has reinforced everything I had learned in ZSE, PE and f.64 courses. This course has tied together everything nicely in a really easy to follow way and has also helped me to tidy up my editing workflow – now it’s time to practice and experiment some more!
I really can’t thank-you enough Blake. My editing and understanding of color have grown exponentially over the past 5 months and without your courses I truly feel I would still be foundering around, getting lucky with some of my edits and frustrated by not being able to reproduce results. ????

  16. Brian G. (verified owner)

The course has inspired me to go back and revisit photos I had previously taken but excluded from editing. It is amazing what can be achieved from adding the learnings from this course and combining it with the other topics Blake has covered in other tutorials – Great inspiration for me.

This course opened my eyes and the door to understanding color in a way I never could before. If you work with color photos at all you can benefit from this course! Blake explains everything well and with practical examples so you won’t get left in the dust.

  20. Graham Bennett (verified owner)

I haven’t finished the course yet but I am already more in control of the colour in my pictures than I was before I started. This course is worth buying just for the two videos on colour separation. The extensive information on colour grading goes far deeper than anything else I have ever seen.

  21. Ian Dodd (verified owner)

Nobody does PS Colour education like you Blake.

  22. ART B. (verified owner)

This course is a 10! The Color Course has opened an entirely new dimension of photography and image processing for me. My images are moving from the realm of being a captured moment in time, toward something connecting with the viewer such that it makes a mental impact. My uses of the tools for color processing are expanding exponentially. Thank you, Blake. โ€“ Art B

  23. David Robinson (verified owner)

Outstanding course so simple yet so much information on colour and colour techniques. Blake takes you through colour correction, colour separation and colour grading. There is no reason why anybody should not be a better colour photographer after studying this course.

  24. David Wood (verified owner)

Material content and delivery are excellent. I think the content could be a little more structured eg into chapters containg all the content – videos, images and actions – required for that chapter.

  26. Eric Cheek (verified owner)

So far I have completed module 1 which gives me a good understanding of colour and workflow.
I have delayed module 2/3as I feel that gradients are an essential part of the process and I was already completing that course
That being said so far I have found this course outstanding and look forward to continuing with it in a week or so.

  27. mike m. (verified owner)

    Great course as always!

  28. Felix Rivero (verified owner)

Color Theory for Photographers Course is an eye opener for my photography, after colour correction, colour separation my pictures have a new dimension and the final colour grading for my artistic expression. I can not express my gratitude enough to Blake Rudis at f.64 Academy, Thank you so much!!!

  29. Peter Rhodes (verified owner)

Thoroughly enjoyed the detail and time taken to explain each process. Immediately applicable to current projects.

  30. Beth S. (verified owner)

The course is amazing, I am learning how to really edit to get more color, and color separation in my work…

Excellent course. Very well organized and presented. Thanks, Blake!

  34. John Van Winkle (verified owner)

Itโ€™s worth it at twice the price, but donโ€™t tell Blake.

  35. Randahl (verified owner)

This is the most complete and relevant course on color I have seen. Blake does an excellent job of making sure every level of expertise is addressed so everyone gets the best color experience. I can’t wait to see how this knowledge will elevate my images.

  36. Carol E. (verified owner)

Wonderfully structured course that walks you through to bring color and life to your photos.

  37. Al (verified owner)

As with any of Blake’s courses, there’s a considerable amount of learning within; it doesn’t disappoint. The course modules are perfectly sized, presented in a casual, easy to understand format. If your goal is to become comfortable and gain a mastery of PhotoShop in support of your art, then this course definitely provided the guidance to get you on that path. Thanks Blake!

  38. david beaubien (verified owner)

the best course I haver ever taken for photoshop and also one that is somewhat difficult to grasp.i relate it to the difference between a intern and a doctor in which the course never ends and the learning never stops.so exciting when the light comes on again and again.

Though I’ve not had time to go through the whole course, from what I’ve read/seen and practiced, the Color course promises to be an invaluable asset for my work. Thank you

  41. Olegas Ivanauskas (verified owner)

I watch your lessons all the time. And you are the only one who explained so simply and clearly how important it is to correct colors correctly. I am very grateful to you for this. You are the best teacher I have ever met.

  42. Anonymous (verified owner)

I have been working my way through the course. A lot of information to absorb but as I experiment on some of own images, the course has improved them tremendously. The organization is spot on and explanations top notch. Iโ€™m looking forward to finishing the course and incorporating the materials into my workflow.

I have owned a camera for over 60 years, and I am just learning about color. This is a great course.

  45. Louise (verified owner)

    One word……EXCELLENT and thank you!

  46. Prue Wright (verified owner)

This easy to follow, yet comprehensive course on colour is worth every cent. I have to confess to being a bit of a course addict, and have watched others on colour. Most other educators simply focus on the colour wheel, without imparting understanding on the nuances and mood of colour, as well as the actual position each has on the wheel in relation to the others. Blake is passionate about colour and sees with his artist eyes. He then is able to impart this to us in plain language. Everything is explained clearly and thoroughly, with a rationale given for workflow sequence.

  47. Greg Scott (verified owner)

I am so impressed with this course I have suspended image editing until I can complete both the color and tone material. Blake is the best image editing educator I have found.

  48. Jane P. (verified owner)

I like having all that Blake has been showing in critiques organized in an easy to follow way

  49. Jos Jacob (verified owner)

I have not yet fully gone through the course. But I like the course especially about the selective color. I am using the selective color more

  50. Eitan Raz (verified owner)

Dear Blake. I’m learning a lot from your education. It brings sens and logic even to subjects I knew before. In some ways you are changing my workflow and making it better all the time.

  51. Thomas C. (verified owner)

  52. Steven J. (verified owner)

After watching many of your YouTube videos, I had high expectations with this course, and boy, it did not disappoint! The amount of knowledge and insights you managed to cram in this well-structured series of videos is incredible. On top of that, your enthusiasm is contagious.

  53. Ramesh Sutaria (verified owner)

Great Value for money, wow for less than $4/lesson is a bargain for the wealth of education

  54. Brad (verified owner)

If you want to take your images to what you envisioned when you took the shot, take this course.

  55. Michael Bacon (verified owner)

An outstanding series of educational videos, leading the viewer from ‘colour blindness’ to an enriched understanding of colour theory and how to apply it in post-processing images using Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop.

Blake is an exceptional educator, who makes it easy to learn new concepts, techniques and tools and their application.

The course structure lends itself to easy repetition, either piecemeal or as a whole, so as to reinforce the learning.

My approach with something that appears immediately challenging is: see>see>do>repeat, and dip-in to clarify and refresh. The titling of the individual modules makes this easy, and that initial challenge is quickly overcome.

Finally, the included course materials are well thought out and mapped to the modules.

  56. Bruce (verified owner)

The concept of forcing color separation was new to me. I have tried it on a few images with good results.

  57. Steve Njavro (verified owner)

Blake’s thoughtful exposition on color does an amazing job of getting you to think about color in the same way you would think about your composition when you are on site, taking your photograph. The course is easy to follow, gets you thinking and builds your confidence and ability of expression. Thanks Blake…

  58. Donna V. (verified owner)

I loved this course. I have done quite a few of your courses and I feel this one is your best one yet. Even though I have done Palette Effects, Blend Modes, Blend If, and Beyond Colour, this course increased my understanding of colour theory and its application even more. It is well organized and the practical application lessons are great. Really appreciate all the actions you included. I am glad that you fully explained how those actions came about BEFORE showing us how to use them. I am so glad I bought this course. It is worth every penny. Thank you, Blake.

  59. Claude Tessier (verified owner)

As always, your courses are amazing and your teaching skills are the best we can expect and you do make it look easy. I applied your techniques on many of my recent photos taken with a high end Nikon camera and the improvements were fantastic, specially on RAW files.
At the other end of the scale, old photos that were taken with a now antique Polaroid camera and later scanned could not be improved much due to the poor quality and resolution… can’t polish a turd, as you say. Same results for 35mm slides that were scanned, but that was expected.
I am not a member of the f64 Elite Club but I have purchased and used quite a few of your courses in the past and they were all excellent, as were all your classes on the Photoshop Summits.

I’ve been an Elite member for a couple of years and have completed most of the courses there. You’ve outdone yourself with “Color Theory for Photographers”!

Thank you for emphasizing the importance of playing with color and then showing the myriad ways that we can do just that. I agree with you, the vision of the photographer/artist is more important than appeasing the masses (or the pixel peeper).

This course was worth every penny! Now instead of being frustrated in not getting colors to match my vision, viola – I have a great reference to help me move in the direction I want to go! Thank you!

P.S. Thank goodness I shot in RAW when I was out West several years ago. I’m going back to re-vision some of my favorite shots – I used presets back then, didn’t know better ๐Ÿ˜‰

  62. Steven S. (verified owner)

I’ve been dabbling into Blake’s various courses and his views on color are always welcome given his background. This course just takes all that knowledge and packs it into an easily digestible but extremely dense journey through the world of color from somebody who is clearly well versed in the theories and applications of color. This course will take me many repeat viewings and extended practice sessions before I fully grasp all the concepts and fundamentals. Thankfully Blake’s teaching style and approachability to teaching and then encouraging practice is so well done that I can’t think of another way to tackle such a complex but extremely important concept as color! Thanks Blake!

  63. Eric C. (verified owner)

Hi Blake, I have seen the whole course, a lot to take in. I am in the process of practising some of the new knowledge. Already a huge improvement, just processing to the colour separation stage. Have not even touch on Grading. I have followed you on Pallet Effects and Zone Express. All those other courses just click together with this Colour Course. A lot of photos to be reworked, which is daunting but the rework is there.

With so much option from all your courses, RESTRAINT is the key or will end up with final product madness, which would be fun on occasions, but not foe a whole body of work.

You are keeping my retirement very busy.

Congratulation and Thank you for this Colour Course.

  64. Johan Lotz (verified owner)

Learned a lot from the course, definitely worth the time and money investment. Thank you for the effort that went into compiling the course, I would highly recommend it to anyone with even the slightest interest in editing and improve their photos. Your color enthusiasm has rubbed off big time..

  65. Larry Wales (verified owner)

So Far so good. I have been taking my time to get through the course. I am about half way into it. It’s a lot of work. I will keep you posted.

  66. Gavin McErlean (verified owner)

Outstanding content for all levels, a Conner stone for Photographer workflow from camera to print.

  67. Ed Kendall (verified owner)

I have been following/taking courses with Blake since the original Zone System/Color System over10 years ago. This Color Course has brought all of his extensive experience and knowledge to bear in a clear and insightful course. For me it has been a great review and a exploration of color that is opening so many exciting creative possibilitys. Thanks Blake.

  68. Charles Simon (verified owner)

Applied the learnings to my photos and developed colors that I didn’t realize were there. I was amazed! But will I have the time to do the same to those that I want so much to improve.

  69. William Cavey (verified owner)

I have always felt that in order to create more impactive images, I needed to think more like an artist. This course is providing me with a tool that will help me on this journey.

  70. Julie Botts (verified owner)

very informative and was able to quickly apply

  71. Dennis (verified owner)

As Always, Blake’s Courses are Complete and Do able.

  72. Randall (verified owner)

I’m about halfway through Module 2 at this point. I have the other color courses you have made, Blake, and I must say this is the best. Now that I understand how the color and how these tools/color grading works, it has revolutionized the way I finish my images. They look soooo much better!

  73. Vince Alcazar (verified owner)

“I am using my First Sergeant’s voice…” I love it! Blake I’ve shared with you before & I’ll reiterate: your approach to instruction is what I treasure. And, I think, it’s your core strength. Sure, you have other strengths like your painting (which is highly important) training. Those and other intangibles roll up into what you offer. I’ve purchased all of your color education products and I will continue to do so. Why? As you progress, you bring us along and we benefit from what you find. I’ll give you an example of a crucial takeaway from this course: C.S.G. (Correction-Separation-Grading) Concept. Honestly, I indirectly picked up C.S.G. from your previous educational content. However, regarding C.S.G., this course makes a clear and conspicuous point. The impact for me is that this course has supplied me with new baseline ideas + tools to intentionally succeed. Blake, the C.S.G. Concept gives me the generalized framework–not a recipe or cookie-cutter (things good for the kitchen, not so much in art) to get after my art that will allow me to effectively bring my vision & intent to any image…allowing it to transcend to art. I’m no dummy but I do think I am a heart of the envelope–rapidly approaching average student who with the C.S.G. Concept can succeed in new ways. For me, performance that is repeatable, deliberate, and intentional, will get me to ever higher effectiveness. Those terms may read as familiar as they tended to standardized student performance milestones in every AF course we ever taught in the AF. Those notions also succeed well here. So, keep taking us forward with you. I will subscribe to work not only because your approach speaks to me but because you are totally honest when you share that you ARE on a journey. That candor I find commonly lacking in other photography instructors/educators. Nearing The End Thought: I just identified all of my highest value, i.e., best images and have isolated them on a separate server for protection, security, etc. But, as I go through this course (am this afternoon at the end of module 1) I am realizing I will return to those images to otherwise reinterpret my artistic intent for each of them. I love that challenge because I have a sense of HOW to go about this important mission. The secret sauce is the C.S.G. Concept. Wrap Up Thought: this feedback email hit my inbox yesterday and I absolutely had to reply to you today after hearing, “My First Sergeant voice…” twice. Conclusion: I wasn’t worried about plateauing. But, I know I now have the instruciton that’s fuel in the tank to extend my range and go much farther. Super, super course. If someone says they are serious about color theory and they don’t own this course, they have no idea what they are seeking, not really. Proud of you and grateful at the same time. I am a retired art teacher, graphic designer and now fine art photographer. I have used my knowledge of colour for decades, and given a few talks on the topic to art gallery guides. So, in my arrogance, I wasn’t sure about purchasing this course on colour. Based on my previous courses bought with Blake, which I enjoy immensely and have learnt so much from, and my interest to explore photography from a more artistic level, I thought I would dive in.
Thank you and congratulations, this is a very comprehensively researched and excellently presented course, Blake, and I am loving it, have learnt so much in a very practical way, although I am only 1/3rd way through. As you suggest, I am practicing well before progressing to the next. Brilliant work, logically developed and great presentation. Many thanks, Blake, love it.

Extremely thorough and learned a great deal on color theory for photography and the tools to help advance my artistic vision. Great job Blake

  83. Charles (verified owner)

One of the best color courses I’ve taken. I totally recommend it.

  84. Steven Blake (verified owner)

This course adds detail to previous courses on colour that Blake has done. For me there was one key new additional concept as well as enhanced understanding of another concept previously learned.

Specifically, the concept of colour-separation was new and I’ve found it to be very useful in preparing my images for final production. Second, colour grading, is a deeper dive for me and again introduced a better, more logical, understanding of that concept.

  85. Mike Scheerer (verified owner)

As always Blake Rudis has let the cat out of the box with his latest Color Course. Blakeโ€™s obvious passion and deep understanding of color theory is concisely explained and incorporates the use of all the latest Photoshop tools, helping us to take our photographs and the art of color to totally new levels. Thank you Blake!

  87. Brad Waufle (verified owner)

This is a very comprehensive course in a subject that I really needed some help with, and this course has filled the gap in my lack of knowledge. More than satisfied with my purchase, thanks for putting this together.

  88. Nancy K. (verified owner)

I am only about 1/2 way through the course and it is already well worth it. I was already playing around with point color, but Blake explains the workflow so well. I canโ€™t wait to get further into the course. I can see a marked difference in some previously edited images to my re-edits. Thank you Blake

  89. Michael Miller (verified owner)

I have only reached the beginning of the color grading sections. I find it most helpful to review each lesson several times and then spend a day or two practicing the particular technique.

I understood the color theory lessons from previous F64 courses although the review was helpful. So far, the greatest benefit for me beyond the specific techniques is to understand the difference between color correction, color separation and color grading. Grasping that color work is a three step process has greatly helped my workflow. I consider this course and F 64 Elite well worth the cost.

  90. Joseph (verified owner)

The color workflow steps (correction, separation, grading) are what places this course apart from other color courses. Thereโ€™s also Blakeโ€™s discussions of why certain color models โ€” RGB, CMY โ€” donโ€™t tell the whole story and why the subjective nature of color makes its discipline so difficult. Most enlightening.

  91. Tim Clifton (verified owner)

Once again a fabulous course to help us create our vision!

  92. ALAN FRANCIS (verified owner)

I am still working my way through it, but so far it has been very enlightening and educational.

Blake Rudis is the best Photoshop educator there is. His knowledge of Photoshop and all things to do with the creation of visionary and compelling photographic images is second to none. In this course, Blake demonstrates his knowledge of Colour Theory and and practical ways to incorporate it into your images. Presented in easy to follow lessons and including examples to play along with, this course is a must for anyone serious about making their image “stand out”. I am an experienced photographer with a good portfolio and I was abolutely staggered by how much I didnt know or had forgotten. No matter what your experience level this course is a must. Once you have experienced Blake Rudis you will keep coming back for more.

  104. John (verified owner)

So far, your course has been accessible yet granular. My reason for purchase was to optimize skin tones in my portrait work. I’m also enjoying the other case scenarios and applying your know-how.

  105. Marian (verified owner)

What I have seen so far is excellent.

  106. James Ranka (verified owner)

I always come away with one, maybe two educational nuggets from most tutorials. This color course provides many times over those numbers, and itโ€™s due to the valuable information and your wonderful teaching style.

  107. Frank S. (verified owner)

Great in depth coverage of LR and PS tools, with real world examples and workflow demonstrations, including practice images. The course is well organized into three modules, with a clear focus on color correction, followed by color separation, and pulled together with color grading. While I had a basic understanding of each area based on your You Tube videos, this course is both comprehensive and provides a depth of knowledge and experience.

This is a great course and I love what I’m learning! I’m anxious to go back and rework some of my older pictures. Thanks Blake!

  117. Bill (verified owner)

From what I have seen of the course so far a huge thumbs up!

  118. Doug J. (verified owner)

Blake’s content is the best in class! No slider recipes, thorough explanations with ample “why” comments. Great exercises and extras

  119. Frank (verified owner)

Clearly presented essential and practical concepts.

So far, it’s early stages yet as I am taking your advice and not rushing through the course. Stopping to practise and take in what I have learnt, one step at a time. I’m still on colour separation and taking my time with some of my own images. Very happy to date

I’ve only made it half way through Module 2 and keep practicing the color enhancing options. It’s almost too much to think about per image but getting better. The final result on some of my images has improved which makes it worth the investment.

Great course! A very unique and comprehensive approach to managing color in your images. Brings in a whole other level and dimension. The more I learn about editing my photos, the more fun I am having.

  123. Kelly (verified owner)

Easy to follow. Love the short videos so I can re-watch and practice each step before moving on. I am learning so much!! Thank you!

Fantastic Course. Blake can really break it down in a way you can understand, you just have to wrap your head around the theory. Color Theory is a tough nut to crack. Almost done with Mod 2, I will then go back and watch again while correcting my pictures.

I enjoy listening to your videos. You have so much passion in your voice that all teachers need. I am 76 years young and although I don’t spend much time practicing your lessons the course is worth every penny.
I am also a retired Air Force enlisted vet. Thank you for the enthusiastic way in which you pass on your skills.

It has substantially altered my approach to digital processing. I admit that I never previously had or understood a color workflow. Your course has really upped my game.

    I finally get it.
After going through many instruction courses on Lightroom and Photoshop, I learned very well what each tool did and how to operate it, but I had very little knowledge on how to use that knowledge to make beautiful images, now I get it.

I am very happy with the course on color theory. I am taking my time with it and have not finished yet, but it is very comprehensive and well taught. This is an area of photography that is not really given the priority that it should. Blake really gets into it deep and I love that. As a veteran photographer of 47 years, I believe this is a course of study that everyone (professional and amateur) should take.

There is so much great information in these videos. Being only a couple years in using Lightroom I am glad I have the ability to watch these over and over. Iโ€™m hit advancing very fast but feel I have a good feeling for the first 3 lessons.

  130. Veronica Cogburn (verified owner)

Wow Blake! The Color Course has expanded my knowledge and use of color exponentially. So creative and comprehensive. Now I understand Color Separation and Color Grading and the workflow order correctly. Thank you for advancing my imagery to the next level!

Ever struggle with color in your photography? Do you know the difference between color correction, separation and grading? Do you have a disciplined workflow for color? From theory to practical applications, Blake hit it out of the park with this course.

I’m probably in a very small minority because I edit drum-scanned large format film. The color procedures in Photoshop are helpful, but with Tiff files, many ACR techniques are hit or miss since most functions are optimized (understandably) for Raw files.

  135. Richard Hudnall (verified owner)

The Color Course is a very intense study into the art of using Color, it requires your time and practice. Blake’s presentations make it easier to understand the theory with practical examples. His course on Color is in one work – Excellent.

Outstanding education! So much information, so much so that it will take awhile to fully absorb!!

Blake”s enthusiasm and passion for colour is infectious and this latest colour course is full on brilliant!

If you donโ€™t fully grasp colour theory then this course is priceless.

He makes it easy to understand and then backs it all up with superb examples to enthuse you onwards.

Complete with Photoshop actions and gradients I can highly recommend it.

Blake knows a LOT about color and color theory. Heโ€™s an excellent teacher and makes somewhat easy to understand.

I purchased Blake’s The Color Course: Color Theory for Photographers nearly two months ago but due to artwork I needed to get done for a client I opened the course only last week. I’m nearly two-thirds of the way through the course now and it is already pricelessly valuable to me. In this course, Blake presents his deep, rare level of expertise of color in graspable, accessible, and executable ways. Why do Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw, and Lightroom have so many darned ways of adjusting and changing color? It turns out there are actually answers to those questions and overkill is not among them. So far in this course Blake has clearly answered those questions for me and I’m not even finished going through the course. I still have much more to look forward to.

I haven’t even finished The Color Course yet and I realized that I got a huge bonus or side benefit from it this morning when I looked out the window at all the different greens and truly appreciated the beauty of the darks, lights, yellow-green new growth, etc. I knew before they weren’t all the same, but it really sank in today. So beautiful, so many greens. Now I need to review your color separation videos and learn more so I can apply my “green vision” to my photos.

Going slowly through the course. Agree the need to practice as you learn new things. Put together it is a fine learning experience and my images have improved immensely, even though I am only halfway through the course!

  146. Mark L (verified owner)

I was expecting this to be an excellent course. My expectations were exceeded, colossally. I knew a lot about managing and manipulating color in Photoshop already. In fact, people often compliment my use of color but this course blew me away and I’ve seen what I’ve learned from the course reflected in the feedback I’m getting since. That is only going to get better because what is taught here opens doors to wide-open vistas of possibilities. It is deep, fresh, and well taught by Blake Rudis.

  147. Richard Adams (verified owner)

I have studied color theory for a while now and this course put it all together….. Killer course!
